The two-strand method
Two-strand twists are formed by dividing natural hair into sections and twisting two strands together. At Studio 818 we shape each twist to the client's hair pattern and tension tolerance so the twist sits neatly without excessive pull. The process produces a defined, textured look that depends on strand size and the starter length of the hair.
Appointments for Men’s Two-Strand Twists are scheduled for 150 minutes, with a starting price of $140. Final price may increase for smaller twists, longer hair, or high density. To make the appointment efficient please arrive with hair clean, detangled, and free of product so we can begin styling without extra prep time.
How hair traits matter
Length, density, and natural texture shape how twists look and how long the styling takes. Shorter hair yields smaller, tighter twists only if there is enough length to wrap; high density increases the number of sections and time required. These features determine both the final appearance and whether a higher price applies because of added labor.
There’s a trade-off between twist size and time: smaller two-strand twists give a finer texture and longer styling life but take more time and may raise the final cost. For Sherman Oaks clients we offer flexible appointment times — quick after-work slots for commuters on US-101 and mid-morning weekends for those fitting styles around school and local errands.
Appointment and logistics
Please arrive with hair clean, detangled, and free of product — this reduces appointment time and prevents extra cleansing or manipulation. Expect the stylist to section hair methodically and set each twist with controlled tension; clients typically sit through the full 150 minutes, and the timing allows for shaping and any slight adjustments.
